Positive: HOST Our host was very nice. He met us at the apartment and was helpful when we struggled to do our laundry. APARTMENT This apartment was very new. It looked like they were still adding amenities to the units. The AC was a room unit in the living room, which worked well, but needed to be kept on during the day to keep the unit cool. The apartment seemed well equipped for cooking and enjoying some time outside on the deck, either in back or in front, although it was too hot for us when we visited just due to the weather.
Negative: We stayed on the 3rd floor during a heat wave (one of the hottest weeks in June on record). We are also American and like our air conditioning (I know folks from other parts of the world who might not have been as concerned about the info below), so this may bias the review. LOCATION The location was a bit far from downtown, which we knew, but renting a car might have been more ideal. It was fine, but we were more reliant on bus or water transportation that took a bit of coordination when it was so hot. APARTMENT The bedroom did not get much ventilation from the AC so my partner opted to sleep in the living room on the pull-out couch to be closer to the AC. The laundry machine is shared among the other apartments on the same side of the building, and is located outside on the ground floor, This is not a negative, but you'll need to plan accordingly. There was a laundry hookup in the bathroom, and with the apt being so new, maybe they'll get a private washer and dryer up to the unit for future visitors. Again, our stay would have been so much more pleasant had it not been so hot. Many of the problems I cite above would have not been issues. It's just something to consider if you're considering a visit between June and August.
